Food for Families in Need

West Covina Unified and the local police department distributing food to schools

West Covina Unified delivers food for families in need

On Thursday, November 16, we partnered with the local police department and the Faith Community Church to provide food to families in need.

Volunteers helped us load trucks with boxes of nonperishable food items, ham, and turkeys. After the trucks were loaded, 14 schools were called to get ready for the delivery.

Both trucks were completely full. There wasn’t even enough space for food carts! We had to ask each site to bring out their own carts and be ready for the drop-off.

This year, 248 families received food baskets donated by the church and police department, and assembled by school staff members.

Pastor Kelly DuPee and the Faith Community Church has partnered with the district over the last six years to provide assistance to families who are experiencing hardship during the holiday season.
