Superintendent’s Update for June 2019

Superintendent’s Update for June 2019

West Covina Unified celebrated the conclusion of another successful school year with regional and state accolades, the graduation of 770 students and demonstrations of the skills and talents our students developed throughout the year.

Several WCUSD schools made great strides narrowing the achievement gap – particularly among underserved students – and earned places on the 2019 Top Los Angeles County Public Schools for Underserved Students list and Campaign for Business and Education Excellence Honor Roll.

Many of our schools also culminated a year of hard work and excellent learning with coding demonstrations, arts performances and Dual Language Immersion showcases, highlighting student growth and creative expression.

West Covina Unified’s Class of 2019 impressed District administrators, teachers, staff and families with their academic excellence and tenacity to overcome obstacles, accomplishments that were celebrated in three emotionally charged commencement ceremonies.

We are proud that our Class of 2019 graduates are carving out paths for future success, enrolling in prestigious colleges and universities, enlisting in the military and exploring professional paths through career technical education.

Thank you to our West Covina Unified educators, families and community for your continued support! We wish you all a safe and enjoyable summer break.

Sincerely,

Dr. Charles D. Hinman
Superintendent
